The Mexico paintings are part of an ongoing series that I painted following a long trip to the marvelous old town of Puerta Vallarta on the Pacific coast of Mexico in the summer of 2009. I was fortunate to stay in a 5 story house built into the cliffs at the water's edge with a sweeping view of the the coastline and the three outcroppings of rock nicknamed "Los Arcos." On a motorboat trip along the coast, I discovered that "Los Arcos" was home to a school of brightly colored Parrot Fish that had become tamed by years of hand feeding. The Parrot Fish were protected from fishing by local law and provided a delightful interactive experience.
